Moving

I have decided that to save some time and energy. I will not be posting here anymore. Instead, you will find me at the group blog. www.bareasscottagewriters.blogspot.com.

There are lots to things happening over there and you will be hearing lots from all of us. On writing, books, guest bloggers, and so much more. With me doing this, I can spend more time writing and getting my books out in the publishing world. Once they go in the mail, the rest is out of my hands. :)

See you all at our group blog!

Great Workshop

I have to say that if you ever get the chance to sit in on the Break Into Fiction Workshops with Mary Buckham and Dianna Love. DO IT!!! :D

Writers are learners. It's that simple. A writer learns with every book, and seeks out better ways to make their writing better. Writers learn something new everyday they sit down to write. That is what keeps us writing. We love to learn.

In this workshop, I did just that. I learned and I loved every moment of it. I actually had to leave a little early and let me tell you I really didn't want to. LOL. But my five-year-old wouldn't have liked it if Mommy hadn't been at her football game to watch her cheer. Which she did GREAT!

I walked away knowing that I have lots of work ahead of me for the book I'm currently working on. I knew going to the workshop today that I needed more conflict. Now, I have another way to add to my characters and build them into what I want them to be. I took notes and did the exercises during the workshops and I bought the book (can't wait to dig in). I'm ready to go this week for working on my book.

Was it hard? Heck Yeah! But tell me one thing in life that isn't hard. If we want something then we work through the hard times and make it happen. No one is going to do it for us. WE have to do it. That is what this workshop is all about. Making you think about your characters and your plot and your conflict. Then asking that hated questions, Why?

I walked away wanting to get home and talk to my hubby about the class. Though we haven't gotten to really talk yet, he knows I had a great time. I'm forever thankful that I have such a wonderful man to tend to the kids while I go to workshops, meetings, conferences, and spend lots of time on the computer.

All-in-all today was a wonderful, funfilled learning adventure that only a writer can enjoy! Thanks Mary and Dianna for a wonderful day!!

Have to share!

I've come to love a blog called Bookin' with Bingo! They talk about books (YAY!) and give aways prizes. (Yes, books!) Which is my all time favorite. I love to find a new author and book that I would love to get my hands on. Word of mouth is a wonderful thing.

Today they have a book called Sand Sharks by Margaret Maron. You can enter to win a copy of the book by posting a comment (follow directions at the end of the post). Tell them Misty Wright sent you. :)

Writing!

I've been writing this week. YAY!! Actually, I'm working on two different things. A book for Blaze and a thriller. I know those are two different things, but I've always wanted to write a thriller. After a dream I had I've thought on this one for a good week or so and now I'm writing it. With the help of my wonderful hubby and a good writer friend. I'm moving along. I'll be sharing some soon on my website with the blurbs to these books.

I have to say that it has been nice to take the summer off to relax with the kids and enjoy the beach with them. I did some reading and thinking. Took some notes. That sort of thing, but I didn't write much this summer. Now, I'm having fun getting back into the writing and the things I'd been thinking about. :) Will be sharing my progress along the way with my word meters and blurbs, etc...

I hope everyone else is getting into the swing of a new school year(if you have kids) and writing away. Or just curling up with a really good book. If you have a good book to share, please do. I love to read! :D

Don't forget about the contest on my website. One lucky winner will get a giftcard. go to www.mistywright.com for more information on how to enter. :)

Betrayed

Alright, today I'm talking about the second book in the House of Night series. If you've read the first one then you know Zoey has had some major changes in her life. The short time she has been at the House of Night there have been many things go on that have turned her life around. Now, having to deal with being a leader and having a boyfriend Zoey is in for another ride that could change things once again.

This book is exciting. I was clued to every word and couldn't wait to find out what happened. Once again I was drawn into the world created. I walked the hallways and more with Zoey and her friends. I couldn't get enough.

Next week we'll talk about the third and fourth book in the series. I haven't gotten the fifth book yet, but I'm ready to get my hands on it. Just have to do some writing first. It will be my reward. :)

A day late.

Yep, I'm a day late posting. I meant to post yesterday.

Anyway, I've been trying to think of something fun to do for the middle of the week. Since I'm a writer and I know many others who are and will be reading this blog. (I hope). I was thinking something along that line. Something to do with writing. Each week it will be something different, but still to do with writing.

Since I've still been thinking about it. I don't have anything today. I will share that I'm doing another blog where writers can come to learn the craft. There will be many things going on there and right now we're getting ready to review and talk about a writing book. Join me at www.writerslearningthecraft.blogspot.com.

If you haven't noticed I LOVE to help others. I love hearing from writers/authors about their process and so much more. It helps me learn what will and will not work for me. Along with fine tunes my writing skills. :)

Next week I will post something about writing. Join me, it'll be fun!
